1) Peking University (PKU)

Founded: in 1898, the oldest university in China

Location: Haidian district in the northwest of Beijing. The university has one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. It is famous for its beautiful gardens, traditional Chinese architecture and murals.

Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in modern Chinese history. The National Development School (NDS) of PKU is one of the leading think tanks in China. Through NSD, PKU plays a key role in China’s modernization.

For international students, PKU is an ideal university because it perfectly combines traditional Chinese heritage and Western influence.

PKU has the largest university library in Asia with a collection of 7.331 million books as well as Chinese and foreign periodicals and newspapers.

2) Tsinghua University

Established: in 1911, one of the oldest universities in China.

Location: the Haidian district in northwest Beijing, on the site of the former Qing Dynasty imperial gardens.

Tsinghua has an extremely diverse community. 3) Fudan University

Founded: 1905, originally called Fudan Public School

Location: Fudan University has four campuses in downtown Shanghai: Handan, Fengling, Zhangjiang and Jiangwan.

Fudan University is a modern, comprehensive university and one of the most selective universities in China. With more than 45,000 Chinese students, Fudan is one of the largest universities in China. It is also a hub for international students, 15% of whom study at the university at the undergraduate level.

Internationalization is one of the main highlights of Fudan. The university offers curricula in English and has established numerous academic exchange programs and partnerships with universities around the world.

Fudan University has four campuses. Handan Campus (pictured above) is the main campus and is located near Wujiaochang in the northern part of Shanghai.

4) Zhejiang University (ZJU)

It founded in 1897.

Location. ZJU has seven campuses: the main campus, the side campuses and the campuses in Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiaochi, Zhijiang, Zhoushan and Haining.

Zhejiang University (ZJU) is one of China’s leading institutions of higher learning. Eighteen majors at ZJU have been selected for China’s Double First Class initiative, and 39 majors receive an “A” grade in the latest national assessment.

In 2017, ZJU International College welcomed more than 6,800 international students from 148 countries. Currently, 7,074 international students are studying at ZJU.

5) Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)

Founded: 2006: 1896

Location.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a prestigious institution of higher learning that is internationally recognized for its comprehensive, high-quality, innovative, and research-oriented programs.

Since 2000, thousands of students have come here from more than 100 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, USA, Germany, France, UK, Canada, North Korea, Australia, Thailand, etc. In recent years, the number of international students has increased to about 6,000.
