How to draw an ice cube

How to draw an ice cube. While many people look forward to hot summer days when the hottest days of the season arrive, it can get quite uncomfortable! Fortunately, there are several ways to stay calm when heat waves hit, and one of the best is to enjoy a cool drink with ice cubes inside. Although they are relatively simple in shape, you might be surprised that learning how to draw an ice cube can be challenging!

When you understand what to do, it can be much easier, which is what this tutorial is for! Our step-by-step guide on drawing an ice cube will show you how to draw a detailed representation of this icy shape. You can draw many more characters like bow and arrow drawing, Anubis drawing, betta fish drawing, cobra drawing, blueberry drawing, fish drawing, coconut drawing and many more cool drawings easy.

Drawing an ice cube

Step 1:

We’ll keep things nice and simple for this first step of our guide to drawing an ice cube. For now, we’ll describe the cube itself, and as you can imagine, it will be square. Try to visualize a material cube as you draw this system, and maintain that in intellect as you reproduce the shape in our reference image.

Although it’s a square shape, we don’t recommend using a ruler and drawing it freehand. It is because the edges of the ice cube have melted a bit, so that the edges won’t be straight. Then, once you’ve drawn this shape, we’ll add some details for the ice cube in the next few steps.

Step 2:

We mentioned earlier that the cube in your ice cube drawing would look slightly melted, and we’ll start describing that in the next step. You can accomplish this by drawing a little pool under the bucket, and it can be done with a few round lines to complete the puddle shape shown in the reference picture. That’s all we’ll draw for this step, so we can continue when you’re ready!

Step 3:

You’ve drawn the outline and the puddle for this image, so for the next step in our guide on drawing an ice cube, we’ll start with what’s probably the most challenging effect. The ice cube is transparent, so making this fine can be difficult. However, we’ll show you how to do it and get started! To create this effect, draw two curved lines near the top of the ice cube’s center.

As you can see in the contact photo, these two easy bars help show where the top and sides of the ice cube are. We won’t add more, so you can finish this step by drawing small round shapes as minor parts of the puddle.

Step 4:

We will continue adding that transparency effect you started in the previous step. First, you can draw lines above the two you added in the last step. Next, we will add curved lines on the left flank of the cube, as well as around the bottom of the cube.

It is a step where you will want to refer closely to the reference image as you draw. Try copying the newlines precisely as they appear in our image, and you’ll get the hang of it!

Step 5:

Now it’s time to finish the picture and prepare for the last step of this guide on drawing an ice cube. To do this, we will focus on finishing the reflective effect of the cube. To do this, we’ll add a few more corner lines to the cube, but they’ll be slightly more distorted than the ones you’ve already drawn. It will be because they will be seen through the rest of the cube.

Once you’ve drawn these lines, you can add a few straight reflective lines to the side of the cube, then finish by drawing a reflection in the puddle. Once you are done with all these details, you are ready for the last step!

Step 6:

In this last step of your ice cube drawing, you can finish by adding color. In our reference image, we’re using light shades of blue. Try using the lightest blues you have because we’re going for a transparent look for the icicle. The mediums you use for the colors can also have an impact, and we recommend using a softer medium.

Some of the mediums we prefer are watercolors and shaded pencils. Then you can use a black pen or marker for some edge detail for contrast. What colors and mediums will you choose to finish this painting?

Make your ice cube drawing unique.

These 4 fun tricks will make your ice cube sketch even more extraordinary! This drawing of an ice cube looks excellent, but a few others will often join one ice cube. Now that you know drawing an ice cube, you can add one or two more to your drawing. These new ice cubes could be at slightly different angles or different stages in the melting process. How many ice cubes do you want to add, and how will you place them in this frozen composition? This ice cube has the shape of a classic cube, but ice can also be frozen in other forms. You can draw other ice cubes to match this classic in different ways.

These can be any shape you like, and you can make them appear 3-dimensional as the classic cube does. They could also be in the form of other objects, such as fruit and food. What are some other creative ways you could use for extra ice cubes? Regardless of their shape, ice cubes should be made in an ice cube tray. It is another object you could add to this ice cube drawing. These trays may look simple, but they can be challenging to draw.

Use a real one from your freezer or search for pictures online to help you pull one out. Of course, ice cubes aren’t just for fun. They can have many uses, but the main one is to keep drinks cool. That’s why we thought it would be fun to draw the drink this sketch of ice cubes would be used for! There are several methods to do this. On the one hand, the ice cube could already be floating in the drink. Or the ice cube could be next to the glass, ready to go.
